The Two Things We Did in Biliran and You Probably Should Not Miss Doing Too

The Two Things We Did in Biliran and You Probably Should Not Miss Doing Too

Don’t get too comfortable. Challenge yourself to live life away from your comfort zone. Go out. Explore outside, for the world is vast. Fill your life now with exciting adventures. Chase new experiences. After all, what’s the point of living, if you won’t even take a risk?

Chasing Potatoes

Before, when I heard of Biliran Island, my mind automatically thought of waterfalls and Sambawan Island.  I was not really familiar with the place but I have seen a lot of beautiful photos of waterfalls in Biliran and the picturesque view of Sambawan Island which had been  featured a number of times in any social media, tellies, blogs etc. That was why when I set foot in Biliran, I was ecstatic to explore and venture out these two things: waterfalls and Sambawan Island.  I ‘ve been yearning to  go and delve myself in something extraordinarily  far from the things  I usually  do. There are lot of wonderful places in Biliran but these two have been great attractions that made Biliran Island popular

Without further ado, here are the two things that we did in Biliran Island:

1. Canyoning in  Biliran

Biliran has been blessed with brimming natural resources which, of course, include waterfalls. People nowadays like to chase waterfalls, so if you are one of them, and you would like  to chase 15 waterfalls in one day, try canyoning in Biliran. You will not just see the 15 stunning waterfalls, but you also get the chance to explore other elements of nature.

Canyoning in Biliran entails nature and river trekking, jumping over the canyons, sliding through boulders and the best of all is rappelling down a number of waterfalls. One of the highlights of this adventure is rappelling down Ulan-Ulan Waterfalls which is estimated  to be  100 ft. high.

My canyoning experience in Biliran was much cooler, awesomer and more adrenaline pumping than my canyoning adventures before. This is definitely a must try adventure, a bucketlistly worth to be ticked off.

Here’s my video of our canyoning experience in Biliran Island.

2. Exploring Around Sambawan Island

Upon reaching the island, after a one-hour boat ride, I admiringly noticed the crystal clear blue waters, the stunning rock formations, the fine white sand on the beaches and the relaxing and placid tropical vibe of Sambawan.

Who wouldn’t love this spellbinding beauty of Sambawan Island? It’s quiet and quaint, perfect for people wanting to escape the reality of the busy and noisy life in the city.  The view is just breathtakingly spectacular from any angle. The island itself is a postcard of a perfect paradise. This is definitely one for the books for tropical destination.

So let me take you in Sambawan Island through this video.

How to Get There

(Taken from http://www.traveling-up.com/travel-guide-biliran/)
  • There is no airport in Biliran province. For those coming from Manila, the nearest entry point is Tacloban in Leyte. From the Tacloban airport, ride a jeep to the downtown area, then ride a Grand Tours Van (P130) to Naval town proper. Travel time is about 2.5 hrs. Cebu Pacific flies from Manila and Cebu to Tacloban. Lowest year-round fares may be booked through www.cebupacificair.com or reservation hotlines (02)7020-888.

  • Cebu is the nearest international airport. From Cebu City, fast crafts are available to Ormoc City in Leyte. Travel time is roughly 3 hours. From Ormoc, you can take a shuttle van directly to Naval. Travel time is about 1.5 hours.

Those naughty potatoes roll so fast that I could hardly catch up with them in BILIRAN. I wonder what place will they be venturing next. So stay tuned for my next chasing potato adventure.

Chasing Potatoes

Why Chasing Potatoes? I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.

  2. I love your photos! I’m also a Huawei P9 user, however, quality is not the same as yours when I post them online. What app do you use to enhance them and what do you do to retain its quality?

  4. That’s a great quote. My mind is already gone. And I guess that’s where it starts – in the mind. If you can dream a situation then you can bring it to reality.
