LAKE JANAGDAN : What It’s Like to Climb to the Crater of a Dormant Volcano

PART ONE: What it is Like to Try Major Climb for the First Time

I just had my first ever major climb on the highest highland of Eastern Visayas, the Alto Peak also known as Mt. Aminduen. But before reaching Mt. Alto we also summitted its neighbor, Mt. Janagdan, a dormant volcano. This volcano boasts of its stunning and enchanting Lake Janagdan located on its crater.

Here’s my VLOG on how my friends and I climbed Lake Janagdan. Spoiler alert, something happened to me at 7:02. Check this one out so that a similar incident will not happen to you in case you would want to try climbing there as well.😂😂

I apologize in advance for my awkwardness, but believe me I tried.  I’m not good in speaking too, so please bear with me. Hehe 🙂. If you do like my video don’t forget to subscribe my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/chasing_potatoesThank you so much. 🙂♥

How to get there :

Book your tour with CALEGUID, contact Kuya Ramil at this number 0921-724-3042. They will not just offer the tour guiding services but also the transportation as well. 😊

Estimated Expenses :

Guide Fee :  Php 300.00 for one day tour , Php 500.00 overnight

Registration Fee : Php 25.00

Transportation Fee : Php 2,000.00 back and forth (since we were 18 in the group we only paid Php 112.00 each)

If you opted to ride Habal Habal from Ormoc City to Brgy Cabintan ( one way only) : Php 200.00

If you choose to ride Jeepney : I don’t have any idea about the fare but I think it’s lesser than the Habal-habal, you can ride a jeepney to Brgy. Cabintan via Ga-as at the Terminal across Public Market and Ormoc Port.

Important Note : Always LEAVE NO TRACE

Those naughty potatoes roll so fast that I could hardly catch up with them in Lake Janagdan. I wonder what place will they be venturing next. So stay tuned for my next chasing potato adventure.

Chasing Potatoes

Why Chasing Potatoes? I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.

  1. Haha! Girl, I have to admit I first had to google where ‘Visayas’ is 😀
This is definitely the kind of trip I would love to do! I like hiking, climbing and exploring 🙂 A crater of a volcano has never been visited by me. This could be fun! Thank you for the story!

  2. Looks like a fantastic hike. Yikes about the thorns in your hand, I’m clumsy so that would have happened to me as well.

      1. Me, I don’t hike although my friend has been asking me to try it. I always say I’ll come when I feel I can take on the hike and just right for inexperienced climbers. =)
