Night Mobile Photography: Seven Picture-Worthy Places in Cebu  Captured at Night Plus a Bit of Surprise

Did you ever feel frustrated after not getting your ideal photos during night time?
Let’s face it, night shots are always hard to achieve. It’s a dilemma for everyone who wants to capture that perfect snap without getting blurry, grainy or out of focus especially with mobile phones.

With the advent of technology nowadays, mobile phones now are engineered with manual modes or with auto night shots on their camera settings. With the aid of stabilizer, night mobile shots are now perfected to capture the image you desire to take.

The only thing that matters now is to determine the places ideal for night shots here in Cebu. Cebu is now brimming with beautiful places in pictures but most of these photos are usually taken during daytime. How about taking photos at night time?

So here are the night snaps I captured in Cebu using my Huawei P9.

  1. Metro Colon

This is one of the busiest streets in Cebu City, and you may personally find this place unattractive and not suitable for taking pics; but when you get the right angle, like this shot, you may think that this pic was taken in another country, right? Playing with angles is one trick to achieve your ideal picture.

  1. Jones

One of the tallest buildings here in Cebu City is Crown Regency Hotel in Jones Street. Well, if you love to play with lights, lines and motions, I think this is a perfect spot for that. This is one of my fave shots so far, ever since I started photo walking at night time in this city.

  1. Mactan

I captured this photo just as the sun was about to set leaving bits of hues in the sky. With a long exposure setting and a tripod, I was able to get a glimpse of silky water under the bridge and with minimal editing for this pic, I achieved this dramatic effect of colours. What do you think?

  1. SRP

If you want to take a picture of trail lights, one of the perfect places to capture that is in SRP. As soon as I had my P9, the first place I visited for photo walks was SRP where there were a number of cars passing by. The diverse paths of long roads with no buildings in some areas are suitable places to capture the sky or even the horizon.

  1. Cordova

These lighted thousand roses are just a sight to behold. Along the darkness that dominate the place, therecomes beauty that shines and stands out.  So here’s my picture of 10k roses with bokeh in the background. I composed a different perspective from the usual photo of 10k roses captured by most people.

  1. Tops

Most often, photos of Tops showcase the view of the city from the highlands. Well, I took this pic behind those common images. I snap it on those semi-circle structures in Tops where some stores are located. I find the color aesthetic and the whole view nice. And I guess this is worth the shot.

  1. Magellan Cross

Magellan’s Cross at night may give us a glimpse of the same sight but in a different mood, different feeling. This is Magellan’s Cross at night and it’s beautiful. ♥

There are still a lot of places in Cebu City worthy to be captured at night. My photos are just samples of Cebu’s beauty.

Mobile photography has its limits. But with the right setting, lighting and creativity, one can get the photos of his heart’s desire.

“So obey your urge to take photos. Take lots of them. The more photos you capture the better the chances of getting amazing results. Who knows you may not be able to visit the place as your restless feet will be taking you somewhere else.”

A piece of reminder: just be mindful of your things in case you would go photo walking in the places mentioned above. Leave no trace always. 😀

My Bit of Surprise

I’m not really good at writing. Well, it’s not really my cup of tea. Believe me, I had a hard time composing thisnpiece. If you have been following my blog, you can tell why. My compositions are not good enough even thoughnI try my best to convey these thoughts and ideas into words. This is the reason why I blog because I want to improve my writing. I just love to take challenges and writing challenges me.

Anyway, I just have to compensate my immature writing with photos in order to create an impact on my blog. I really take efforts for my photos to be awesome.

A couple of years ago, I was nominated and became a finalist at BCBA best photo blog. I did not win, but I learned and was inspired to capture great photos for my blog and to do better with my craft.

This year, after hearing the news that I was nominated for the second time for BCBA Best Photo Blog, I just couldn’t contain my happiness.  I felt honored and appreciated. It’s like my hard works were paid off.

But no matter what will be the result, win or lose, I am still grateful for this chance. This already means a lot to me. Thank you very much. xoxo

Chasing Potatoes

Why Chasing Potatoes? I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.
