First and Second Week of May 2024
Here’s a glimpse into the first two weeks of May! Hopefully, I can persevere in sharing the mundane moments of my life here and avoid letting lethargy dominate me. Lol! 😂 I’ve taken up keeping a weekly journal to track the little things.
Work is still a bit of an adjustment, but I’m pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying some aspects of it. Being back on the island with family has also been a positive influence.
- It’s helped me stick to healthier eating habits (even if I do indulge in some buwad (dried fish) sometimes, HAHA!🤣) Of course, I always have utan (boiled vegetables ot vegetables soup) on the side to balance it out, HAHA! 😂).
- Plus, I’m getting enough sleep these days (10pm to 6am – a big change from my usual 2am Cebu bedtime! Oh dziba, HAHA 😅).
- I’ve even managed to squeeze in some weekend tennis training! ( But I’m still obese though says my BMI shhhhh HAHA! HUHU! 😭🙃)

The absolute highlight of these two weeks was definitely my trip back to Cebu! My niece was participating in CVRAA, which is basically a mini-Olympics for athletes in Region 7 of the Philippines. Back then, it was actually a dream of mine to compete in CVRAA back in elementary or high school, either in tennis or badminton! But you know, competition was fierce – there were just so many talented and skillful kids out there! Anyway, my niece is a chess player, and she was one of the representatives for Cebu province at CVRAA this year. (She even managed to win a few games – so proud!) Looking back, I can’t help but think about the missed opportunity to learn chess as a kid. HAHA! 😅It would have been a fun challenge! But realistically, even if I had started young, there’s no guarantee I would’ve won any medals. Chess, must have that strategic thinking! Mine’s more like…strategic napping, haha! Zzzzzz 😴”

It turns out, my mom’s birthday fell right around the time of CVRAA! We celebrated with a delicious dinner at AAs Barbecue, followed by some decadent desserts at Shell Robinsons Mobility Station (gotta say, that ice cream cake was heavenly!). On a random note, the restrooms at Shell Robinsons Mobility Station actually caught our eye with their clean and modern aesthetics. We even took a few pictures there for the memories! Overall, I loved the atmosphere and ambiance at Shell Robinsons Mobility Station – it’s a great place to relax and unwind.

I’m feeling grateful for this island life and all the unexpected adventures it throws my way. So long, May, you were awesome! See you all for some epic June adventures – woohoo! ❤️
