After our exhausting climb in Lake Janagdan, we were met by a spectacular scenery, yet we were also greeted by danger that lurked in the corner. As I trod along the majestic trail, there was an instant when I held on to a thorny plant and the thorns pierced both of my palms. I almost cried because of the pain. We were looking up desperately hoping the clouds in the firmament would vanish even just at midnight for we were going to witness this rare phenomenon, the Perseid Meteor Shower, which occurs once a year. We screamed our hearts out that this moment would be perfect as we desired it to be. We prayed to see that magic in the sky but God forbade us to see it. Instead He sent heavy rains, thunder and lightning as if there was festivity in heaven. We were dismayed for a moment as shown by the faces of frustration from all of us. But I won’t let this adventure fail. I won’t let this speck of negativity dishearten us.

LAKE JANAGDAN : What It’s Like to Climb to the Crater of a Dormant Volcano

PART ONE: What it is Like to Try Major Climb for the First Time

 

I just had my first ever major climb on the highest highland of Eastern Visayas, the Alto Peak also known as Mt. Aminduen. But before reaching Mt. Alto we also summitted its neighbor, Mt. Janagdan, a dormant volcano. This volcano boasts of its stunning and enchanting Lake Janagdan located on its crater.

Here’s my VLOG on how my friends and I climbed Lake Janagdan. Spoiler alert, something happened to me at 7:02. Check this one out so that a similar incident will not happen to you in case you would want to try climbing there as well.😂😂
