MARKET TOUR IN BANTAYAN ISLAND : WHERE TO BUY PASALUBONG, BUWAD, TAGUANGKAN, LABTINGAW ETC?

Just recently, I went home to Bantayan Island and witnessed the observance of the new normal travel protocols. I included in the vlog the fares and the guidelines for tourists and locals alike and everything you need to know for the trip. You may find in the video that it is somehow easy to travel to Bantayan but please remember that the virus may be lurking nearby. Always think of your safety and of the safety of others.

Always do these:

  • Wear your facemask and faceshield.
  • Keep your safe distance.
  • Wash hands regularly.
  • Avoid mass gatherings and large crowds.

Let us not be complacent. Let us follow the health protocols.“Better safe than sorry.”

Taguangkan is from the chicken’s womb or ovary where the egg is formed. It is grilled and is a popular food of Bantayanons and non-Bantayanons alike.
Labtingaw is a semi-dried fish sliced half open. It is preserved by soaking in brine or seawater and dried in a short period of time. That’s why labtingaw is kind of dry and kind of moist.
The perfect pasalubong for your family and friends is “buwad”. Most of the best varieties of Cebu “buwad” can be found in Bantayan Island specifically in the Dried Fish Section in Bantayan Market.

Just sharing this video about the buwads I ate, loL! HAHA…Bantayan Island offers a variety of dried fishes and these four are my top favorites. Have you tried eating these??

P.S. I apologize in advance for my awkwardness, but believe me I tried.  I’m not good in speaking too, so please bear with me. HEHE 😊. If you do like my video don’t forget to subscribe my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/chasing_potatoes. Thank you so much. 🙂

Chasing Potatoes

Why Chasing Potatoes? I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.

  1. Thank you for sharing this informative video and for emphasizing the importance of following health protocols even when traveling. It’s great to learn about the different local delicacies that can be found in Bantayan Island, such as taguangkan, labtingaw, and buwad, which I haven’t tried yet but would love to. It’s always exciting to discover new food and cultural experiences when traveling, but as you said, we must always prioritize our safety and the safety of others. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more of your travel vlogs!
