Why Chasing Potatoes?
I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.
After our exhausting climb in Lake Janagdan, we were met by a spectacular scenery, yet we were also greeted by danger that lurked in the corner. As I trod along the majestic trail, there was an instant when I held on to a thorny plant and the thorns pierced both of my palms. I almost cried because of the pain. Did you ever feel frustrated after not getting your ideal photos during night time?
Let’s face it, night shots are always hard to achieve. It’s a dilemma for everyone who wants to capture that perfect snap without getting blurry, grainy or out of focus especially with mobile phones.
With the advent of technology nowadays, mobile phones now are engineered with manual modes or with auto night shots on their camera settings. With the aid of stabilizer, night mobile shots are now perfected to capture the image you desire to take.
The only thing that matters now is to determine the places ideal for night shots here in Cebu. Cebu is now brimming with beautiful places in pictures but most of these photos are usually taken during daytime. How about taking photos at night time?
So here are the night snaps I captured in Cebu using my Huawei P9.
“I can’t sink myself.” Those were the words I uttered when my friends bade goodbye as they went to the deeper part of the ocean. Stuck on the shallow water , hit by the waves rushing to the shore, I felt nothing exciting for I saw only the usual and the ordinary. (like duuuuh!)Read More »
We were looking up desperately hoping the clouds in the firmament would vanish even just at midnight for we were going to witness this rare phenomenon, the Perseid Meteor Shower, which occurs once a year. We screamed our hearts out that this moment would be perfect as we desired it to be.We prayed to see that magic in the sky but God forbade us to see it. Instead He sent heavy rains, thunder and lightning as if there was festivity in heaven. We were dismayed for a moment as shown by the faces of frustration from all of us. But I won’t let this adventure fail. I won’t let this speck of negativity dishearten us.
Find time to explore around. You’ll never know what adventure may lie ahead. It may be climbing mountains, swimming in beach resorts, visiting museums or strolling around boulevards. Go out, capture scenic moments. Learn and have a meaningful experience. Gather memories and gain knowledge. Trust me, they’re good for the body and soul. – Chasing Potatoes
I’ve been to Manila a number of times, but I never got the chance to go places. My routine was answering the demands of work and of sleep. Schedule was always not enough. Then one lucky day, one of my colleagues accidentally booked our flight back to Cebu on a Sunday, so we had an extra non-working day which was Saturday. Horrraaaah! We could explore and roam around the city but we have to dig our own pocket for the expenses, of course.
There are a lot of tourist spots in Metro Manila but these were the only places we visited due to limited time.
I’ve been living here in Cebu for about ten years now, but I have not realized one of my strongest desires. You may laugh at this revelation for this wish of mine is just a simple matter to some. . I have already summited a number of mountains here in Cebu but I haven’t still made it on the top of the highest peaks here in the Queen City of the South. Yes, I haven’t climbed Osmeña Peak. HAHAHA! Now I’m laughing because this post is not even about Osmeña Peak. You may think I’m off-tangent, but I’m not, for the subject of this post stands on the same pinnacles as Osmeña Peak.
I’m sharing this now because I have partly stepped foot on the highest highlands here in the province of Cebu, although I have not jaunted up that famous Osmeña Peak. At least, my strongest desire has been partially fulfilled when I reached Casino Peak.
I just had my first ever major climb on the highest highland of Eastern Visayas, the Alto Peak also known as Mt. Aminduen. But before reaching Mt. Alto we also summitted its neighbor, Mt. Janagdan, a dormant volcano. This volcano boasts of its stunning and enchanting Lake Janagdan located on its crater.
Here’s my VLOG on how my friends and I climbed Lake Janagdan. Spoiler alert, something happened to me at 7:02. Check this one out so that a similar incident will not happen to you in case you would want to try climbing there as well.😂😂
You may have seen videos and pictures of this island being shared a number of times on social media accounts. You saw how beautiful the beaches here are, how pristine the place… how secluded this island is. And you may have also noted what a perfect getaway for tropical destination this island is, etc., etc., etc. And then you may have read blogs about it and you may now have the idea how to get there, etc., etc., etc.
But what I’m going to showcase about Carnaza Island are not just its physical beauties but also our experiences which made this island escapade interesting and different from my earlier escapades. This account reveals why this escapade is one of my unforgettable trips ever. New treasures were found, additional keepings to my wanderlust chest.
The emotional stress I’ve garnered lately made me loss my sanity. Some friends leave without even saying goodbye. Conflicts and changes occur. Well, they happen many times, yeah, sort of permanent already. Everything is just becoming depressing and disheartening plus the volume of work that is piling up. Time is getting limited and the demand for completion is so high. UGH! If only I could prolong time I would be accomplishing much, huhu!Read More »
