I was able to travel to Siargao in January of last year for work. But before I even started talking about the delicious cuisine I had in Siargao, I couldn’t help but share my delight when I saw a Siargao tricycle as soon as I stepped out of the airport. Another one for my trike collection! (Check out my trike adventures here…) I felt like a kid in a candy store with another trike added to my list, woohoo! 🤩😍

Loko-Loko: A Pufferfish Delicacy with a Zing in Bantayan Island
Loko-Loko, also known as Buriring, is a type of pufferfish that gets Bantayanons excited and thrilled. It can be prepared as a local delicacy. While I’ve personally had a positive experience, and let me tell you, it filled my tummy with deliciously goodies from these cutie puffs, haha🤣! It’s also important to remember the risks involved though.

My Chaotic 10k Steps
Our 10,000 step challenge with my nieces turned into a hilarious scramble! Every scenic spot, like the beautiful mangrove river view and even a charming corner of the plaza that reminded me of Baguio, became a photo op. We grabbed cheap iced coffee (mine for 39 pesos, theirs sans caffeine!), then settled by the baywalk to capture the fiery sunset. It was stunning, but just as the sun dipped down, a swarm of flying termites attacked!

( Last Week of April 2024) – Island Rekindling: Back on Court
The last week of April has been incredibly productive for me. One of my main goals while living on this island was to reignite my passion for my original (original?, Maja’s voice popping out my brain cells lol hahaha 😅) sport from my elementary school days. Basta, that was the sport when I am in 6th grade. My father used to train me in this. This sport brought me to different places like Bogo where I came out the champion and Ronda where I finished third place. Those were my core memories. (charrowt ba, haha 😅) And now, 21 years later, let’s just say I’m a bit rusty – muscle memory can only take me this far, lol Haha😅! But I was determined to get back into the swing of things, and I finally managed to hit the courts for a game of lawn tennis.

Harold had been craving pizza ever since he set foot on Bantayan Island. That’s the only food he constantly mentions as we headed to Santa Fe. (Haha! As if there’s no pizza in Cebu, LOL.😋) Then he suggested that we go for a swim at the beach and then look for a pizza place. I agreed, but then I had a better idea. (Ding! Lightbulb moment 💡, haha 😆)
“Why don’t we do both together?” I asked. “We can have pizza by the beach!”
