Hong Kong Day 1: From the Skies to the Streets

A Serendipitous Journey

As an anxious flyer, I still can’t believe I have set foot in Hong Kong! But here I am, totally filled with nervousness with a slight touch of excitement (of course, excited pa rin, hehe 😜). Huge thanks to Harold for inviting me to be his plus one on this Hong Kong adventure. And a special thanks to his Boss for making this trip possible. I’m truly grateful for this amazing chance to fly again out of the country. Woohoo!

Cathay Pacific Experience

This was my first ever flight with Cathay Pacific, and it was a delightful experience. Fun fact: way back in 2018, one of my photos was featured on their website (though it’s no longer there, huhu 😭, upon checking right now). Flying with them felt like a full-circle moment, and I was genuinely impressed with the service and overall flight experience. Here is the photo that was featured:

A Taste of the Sky

The short flight was surprisingly calming, thanks to the in-flight entertainment. I finally got to watch “Inside Out,” a film I’d been meaning to see for ages. And of course, the in-flight meal was a treat. Harold opted for pork and rice, while I chose the chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies, paired with a side of assorted fruits, ice cream, and juice. It was a satisfying and filling meal. (watch my mini vlog here)

Hong Kong Welcomes

We touched down around 4 PM, and the airport itself was a sight to behold. The sleek, modern design was breathtaking, and the bustling atmosphere was electrifying. I was immediately captivated by the stunning display of “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In,” a recreation of iconic scenes, though I had no idea what it was until I searched it. And then, I got curious about the film and planned to watch it. All I remember, or the first thing that popped up in my mind, was the Kowloon Walled City. Anyhow, another amazement for me was riding a train inside the airport to claim our baggage! It’s mind-boggling how massive this airport really is. Hahaha.

Staying Connected at 58 HKD

✈️ After landing, we made sure to grab a SIM card for 58 HKD (approximately PHP 435.00) at the airport so we could stay connected and, of course, post all about our trip on FB, lols! 😂 Then it was off to find our tour guide outside the airport, where our transportation to the Ramada Hotel was waiting. 🚌 Of course, I couldn’t resist taking a few photos along the way! 📸 I was just amazed by the airport, so here are some of the photos I took… 🤩

On the Way to the Hotel

We were treated to a stunning view of Hong Kong’s concrete jungle. Towering skyscrapers lined the streets, a testament to the city’s rapid development and global influence.

A Delicious Dinner at Cafe de Coral for 98 HKD

For dinner, we headed to Cafe de Coral. I chose the hot pot because I haven’t experienced it before, not even in the Philippines. I’ve always wanted to try something like shabu-shabu or other hot pot dishes, and I was excited to slurp some hot soup. haha! 😋 The food was a bit pricey for a broke person like me HAHAHA 😅, but, I was full and content that my cravings were satisfied. It was delicious and worth every penny at only 98 HKD (approximately PHP 735.00). (watch my mini vlog here) 🎬

Exploring Tsim Sha Tsui

✨ After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll through the vibrant streets of Tsim Sha Tsui. I was amazed by the unique taxi designs and double-decker buses. It felt like my phone storage was mostly filled with photos of taxis and buses! Hahaha. I guess this will be added to my collection of taxis around the world, char! 😜 Manifesting to travel around the world. Haha! ✈️🌎

A Jollibee Adventure

Finally, a bucket list moment! 🥹 Visiting a Jollibee in another country was a dream come true. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to travel the world and indulge in Jollibee’s delicious treats everywhere. 🍔🍟🥤Manifesting again, please bitaw ni Lord, haha. 🙏❤️

Goodnight, Hong Kong

It’s time to wind down and rest. Until tomorrow, Hong Kong! Can’t wait to share our Macau adventure in my next blog post. Shhh… don’t tell anyone, but I might have had a little luck at the casino. 😉

Chasing Potatoes

Why Chasing Potatoes? I’m Chasing Potatoes. I chase time and opportunities because just like round potatoes they roll and get lost. I chase them to store memories to last a lifetime. I make haste, running after them, fearful that they might be gone. That’s why I go places on land or in water. My story tells about the journey of chasing time and saying yes to wonderful opportunities.
